From 1842 to 1973, Maison Kühne was one of the most prominent fashion houses in the Netherlands. From an iconic building on Kneuterdijk in The Hague, on the corner of Plaats, the house gained international allure as a purveyor to the royal household. In 1937, Maison Kühne created Princess Juliana's wedding dress and her bridesmaids' dresses. In the post-war years, the house worked with licenses from Dior, Givenchy, and Chanel, and dozens of skilled craftspeople, from cutters to retouchers, created pieces that can still be found in museum collections today. In 1973, the doors closed, and for over fifty years, the house remained silent.
A return with a purpose
We are Francesco and Kay Kühne, and for several years we felt the call to revive our heritage, not out of nostalgia, but from a genuine conviction: that the world needs more fashion built to last.
We build upon the foundations of our family story: craftsmanship, elegance, attention to the production process, and translate these into a contemporary vision of fashion. Consciously created. Ethically produced. With lasting value.
Every collection is entirely manufactured in Italy, in the Latina region south of Rome. Here, we collaborate with a renowned family atelier that has specialized in high-quality menswear for generations. With the utmost attention to detail and sustainable production methods, each garment is carefully produced. In this way, we combine Dutch heritage with Italian craftsmanship, creating clothing that lasts for generations.
Luxury that stands for something
We believe that true luxury is visible in the finishing, but tangible in the choices that precede it. Who is buying? How was it made? By whom and under what conditions was it made? In the short term, we will add the digital product passport, which will make such matters completely transparent.
Maison Kühne focuses on people who ask these questions. Customers who invest in clothing that not only enhances their personal style, but also aligns with their values. Style and responsibility are not mutually exclusive; they reinforce each other.
That is what we are building. Again. With the same name, a new beginning, and the same dedication to the craft that has always characterized our house.
